Student Event on Nov. 1: The Hopmayer Scholar Activist Workshop


The Hopmayer Scholar Activist Workshop :"Research for Change"
Friday, Nov. 1 from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. in Wabash 1214.

This workshop will explore aspects of community organizing, with a focus on the critical importance of applied research in forwarding social justice work.  The Mansfield Institute is partnering with the Grassroots Collaborative again this year and will focus on:

• Understanding the structure of movements
• How to conduct “One on ones”
• Self-interest and relationships
• Privilege, oppression, and identity
• Power mapping
• Community-Based Research

Students are asked to come ready to explore their own life and experiences, and be open to learn from the experiences of others. Training will deepen their knowledge and understanding of community organizing and research.
