COE Announces Search for an Assistant Professor of ESL/Bilingual Education


The Language and Literacy Program in the College of Education at Roosevelt University invites applications for a tenure-track, assistant professor position in ESL/bilingual education.

The Language and Literacy Program offers an MA degree in Reading with Reading Specialist, ESL/Bilingual, and Post-Secondary Reading concentrations. Over the next five years, the College of Education plans to integrate ESL/Bilingual coursework into all of its teacher preparation programs, mostly through online coursework. The development of a multilingual/multicultural degree program is another goal of the college.

The review of applications will begin January 6, 2014 and continue until the position is closed. The starting date for this position is August 15, 2014.

Minimum Qualifications. An earned doctorate or ABD in second language studies, bilingual education, TESOL, language acquisition and development, curriculum and instruction, or a related area is required.

Experience in online teaching and using innovative technologies also is desirable.

Preferred Qualifications. Preferred candidates will have a substantial background in teaching ESL in pre-kindergarten through 12th grade settings, teaching diverse student populations, and providing professional development to in-service teachers.
