On May 31st, RU’s Language and Literacy Program will host a professional development workshop from 9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. in Room 1111 of the Wabash Building at 425 South Wabash Ave.
The workshop is entitled: "What does formative assessment and collaborative units look like in a balanced literacy school?"
Free copies of the new book The New Balanced Literacy School: Implementing Common Core will be given to each participant, along with a teacher bag.
The workshop will focus on strategies for teaching reading and writing within a balanced literacy framework, and will officially kick-off Summer Reading Initiatives (SRI) in several Chicago area schools working in partnership with the program. A big portion of the workshop will be dedicated to planning for school-wide thematic units.
All RU faculty, students, and alumni are invited to attend; there is no charge or fee to participate.
Reservations are not required.
