2009 Graduate Named Finalist for Illinois Teacher of the Year

Emily Weiss, a 2009 graduate of the COE's MA Program in Secondary Education, has been selected as one of twelve finalists by State Superintendent Christopher A. Koch for the 2015 Illinois Teacher of the Year.  This is the second year in a row that a Roosevelt alum and secondary education graduate has been selected as a finalist.

The state’s annual educator recognition program will acknowledge the contributions and accomplishments of more than 200 educators and school personnel from throughout the state and honor one individual as the Illinois Teacher of the Year.

Weiss teaches social studies, U.S. history, American studies and public service courses for grades 11 and 12 at Grayslake North High School.

The 2015 Illinois Teacher of the Year will be named during the “Those Who Excel” banquet on October 25, 2014 in Normal, Illinois.

Congratulations, Emily!
