Veteran's Upward Bound Receives New Grant

On September 11, the Chicago Dental Society Foundation awarded the College of Education's Veteran's Upward Bound Program a Chicago Dental Society Foundation Grant in the amount of $2000.   The grant will facilitate the development of the next stage of the Make A Vet Smile Program, which provides free dental work to veterans enrolled in Roosevelt University's Upward Bound Program.

Veterans Upward Bound is a federally funded program that prepares eligible veterans of the United States services for a college education at the institution of their choice.  Services include academic assessment through computerized testing in reading, language arts, and mathematics; classroom instruction, Monday through Friday, in language arts, mathematics, and computer basics, along with instruction in study and test-taking skills; personal tutoring and computer-based instruction; post- secondary school searches, academic and career counseling, and assistance in the veteran’s financial benefit search process; as well as assistance in completing college admission and financial aid applications.

Congratulations to our dedicated staff!
