Feb. 25 Lecture In Honor Of COE Professor Frances Horwich

Please plan to attend the spring Founding Faculty Lecture Series, "From Ding Dong School to SpongeBob Squarepants: Roosevelt College Professor Frances Horwich and the Beginnings of Children’s Television."

This event is part of the Roosevelt University 70th Anniversary Celebration and will take place on Wednesday, Feb. 25 from 4 p.m. – 6 p.m. in Congress Lounge. The featured speaker is Walter Podrazik, a popular culture historian and co-author of ten books including “Watching TV: Six Decades of American Television” A light reception will follow the lecture.

Frances Horwich was born in Ottawa, Ohio, on July 16, 1908, and received a bachelor's degree from the University of Chicago in 1929. She earned her doctorate in education from Northwestern University in 1942.

For more than two decades before first ringing the ''Ding Dong'' bell, Ms. Horwich worked in education. She taught first grade, supervised nursery schools in Chicago, was a principal, and held professorships in education at the University of North Carolina and Roosevelt College in Chicago.

I hope you will be able to attend this fascinating and free lecture.  Reservations are not required.
