April 20 Spoken Word Reading & Reception

Building off of its highly successful event in December 2015, the College of Education will again host a Spoken Word reading by current students and graduates of Roosevelt’s Spoken Word Education Program.  The event will take place on April 20, from 5:30 to 8:00 p.m., in the Gage Loft at 18 S. Michigan Ave., Chicago, Room 700.

The reading and reception are free and open to the public.  After the reading, there will be a
reception and a question and answer session with the poets and presenters, including a discussion of approaches to spoken word education in area schools.  The leader of our program, Pete Kahn, also will be available to talk about the enrollment process for the 2016-2017 courses that begin on August 31, 2016.

Three open mic slots will be available for the first three Roosevelt students who show up at the event and want to read a short poem. To participate, send an email to Pete Kahn at
