CPS Continuing Endorsement Program

The College of Education is pleased to announce that it has entered into a new partnership agreement with the Chicago Public Schools.

Effective until December 31, 2018, Roosevelt will waive all fees and provide CPS teachers with a 57% tuition reduction on courses that count toward the LBS I and Bilingual endorsements. CPS teachers will pay a total of only $360 per credit hour for each course that applies toward these endorsements. The total cost of the LBS1 endorsement is $3,960 for 11 credit hours.  The total cost of the Bilingual endorsement is $6,480 for 18 credit hours.

Earn an MA Degree

The new partnership allows CPS teachers to apply their LBS1 and Bilingual/ESL endorsement courses toward a Master of Arts degree in the following areas, reducing the already low costs of these online and blended graduate degrees by 9-14%.

  • The Master of Arts in Teaching and Learning (TLRN) prepares licensed teachers to become more effective and democratic classroom instructors and leaders. Upon completion of the online program, candidates will be eligible to add an endorsement to their Illinois teaching license and they will have a deeper understanding of the expectations embedded in the CPS Framework for Teaching and other teacher evaluation frameworks.
  • The Master of Arts in Second Language Special Education (SLSE) prepares licensed teachers to effectively instruct English Language Learners and students with special needs. Upon completion of the online and blended program, candidates will be eligible to add both the Bilingual/ESL and LBS1 endorsements to their Illinois teaching licenses.
  • The Master of Arts in Reading (READ) prepares licensed teachers to become effective and democratic leaders in language and literacy learning. Upon completion of the program, candidates will be eligible to add either the reading specialist, reading teacher, or bilingual/ESL endorsement to their Illinois teaching licenses.
Become A Leader

The partnership also waives all application fees for CPS teachers who submit applications to our principal and teacher leader endorsement programs.

  • The MA degree in Dual Language Teacher Leadership (DLTL) prepares teachers to teach, and lead, in dual language programs and schools. Offered in a unique summer residency format, the program leads to the bilingual/ESL and teacher leader endorsements.
  • The MA degree in Instructional Leadership (ILED) is an off-campus program that prepares teachers to become principals and teacher leaders. A strong partnership with current CPS principals and leaders ensures that the curriculum stays relevant to the needs of diverse teachers and learners.
